The Federal Music Project was an agency of the Works Progress Administration that sought to provide work relief for unemployed musicians. This collection documents the activities of the Federal Music Project in New Mexico. This is mainly a collection of New Mexican music recorded in early 1970's on 45 rpm discs, that gave been reformatted to cassettes. Griffith's original part is a unique representation of popular music at that time. A few later items have been added. The John Donald Robb Field Recordings consist of Hispanic, Native American, and Anglo music recorded between 1942-1979 in different parts of New Mexico, the Southwest, Mexico, and Latin America.
